Pool renovations are major investment in time and money. A professionally renovated pool can give you years of pleasure, day and night, however, a poorly renovated pool is certain to tax your emotions for years to come. With over 37 years of pool renovations under our belt we at Brevard Pools feel confident that we are “The Best In Town”.

However, if you shop around, and before you select a company, verify a few simple facts to avoid the pitfalls.

1. Do they have the correct Contractors license to perform this work? A State Swimming Pool Contractors license is required. Look for The RP or CPC designation

2. A permit is REQUIRED! If they try to avoid this, you should try and avoid them!

3. Insurance-Do they have POOL POPPING endorsement in their insurance policy? Brevard County water tables (groundwater) vary and are unpredictable. If your pool water isn’t drained correctly before renovation, your pool could literally “POP” out of the ground! Don’t accept verbally that they are covered. Get a copy of their insurance policy and where they/you stand in the event of an accident.

4. A typical pool renovation should take no longer than a week, weather permitting. Be wary of anyone who tells you it will take longer than this amount of time. There is nothing worse than hiring a fly-by-night renovator with little, or no, business sense, who is constantly telling you: “We’ll be there tomorrow, we promise”, and still they never show up. Never pay for the entire job up front. Your contract should have specific dates, times, and monetary amounts clearly written in the terms. If they do not seem professional up front, question your better judgement and shop around some more.

5. Start up Procedures & Chemical Balance. You may have found a competent renovator, but do they understand what is involved is starting up your pool once it is finished? A newly coated pool finish will take up to 10 months to cure, 60% of the curing process takes place in the first 28 days. Protect your investment, do it right the first time.
